Alternating Roll Video
Here's a nice detailed explanation of an alternating roll and also a helpful example of good picking hand positioning and technique.
Unlike the instructor in this video, I do NOT recommend speeding up and slowing down while practicing the roll. I prefer that you pick a tempo and concentrate on keeping a consistent rhythm. To work on different speeds, stop the roll and then start up again at the new tempo. We want to do everything possible to avoid practicing speeding up or slowing down. Excellent video nonetheless!
